How to Play Mahjong Solitaire
Mahjong Solitaire is a solo tile matching puzzle. Your goal is to remove every tile by matching identical free tiles.
1. Find Free Tiles
A tile is free when no tile is covering it and it has at least one open horizontal side. If another tile sits on top of it, or if both the left and right sides are blocked, you cannot select it yet.
2. Match Identical Pairs
Select two free tiles with the same tile face. Most matches are exact matches: Bamboo 3 matches Bamboo 3, and Red Dragon matches Red Dragon. Flower tiles can match other flowers, and season tiles can match other seasons.
3. Clear the Board
Every match removes two tiles. Keep opening the board from the outside inward until all pairs are gone.
What If You Get Stuck?
If no free matching pair remains, use Shuffle or start a new game. The first version is designed for quick play, so a stuck board is part of the puzzle rather than a failure.
